Still Life Photography

Still life is a form of photography that involves inanimate objects and the use of design to capture a photo. This technique allows the photographer to have more control of the subject matter and arrangement.

The subject matter can be anything from flowers, bowls of fruit, to even cigarettes left on the street. Irving Penn, a photographer and artist took many still-life pictures, including a photo of several cigarettes left on the side of the street.

Another famous still life photographer was Edward Weston, who did many still life photos including vegetables, and shells. On his 16th birthday he received a camera and photographed the rest of his life.
