The Adventures of Grow Day and the Berry Go Round

Grow Day at PRBC was fantastic yesterday. It’s an event that happens every year that stands for God Rewards Our Work (thanks Dusty). I was really happy to see so many people there to fellowship. One of the claims of the day was that there was going to be fun for everyone…well if you count a couple of giant strawberries and a device called the Lagoon of Doom, that would be correct. The Berry Go Round does not look dangerous but looks can be deceiving.

Crowds gather in front of PRBC for grow day and a ride on the infamous Berry Go Round.

If you look at the above photos you’ll see crowds of people, PRBC, and to the left you will see the Berry Go Round. I shudder just thinking about it. Thanks to everybody that came out to GROW Day! Looking forward to next year.

9.11.01

Today is the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9.11.01. We pause to remember those lost that day: workers, fire personnel, police officers, civilians. Regular people with families and friends. Let us not forget the courage of those who went back into burning buildings to save others and those that risked their lives to prevent more damage. Let us not forget those hours, days, and weeks afterward when we chanted USA! and that perfect slogan, “Together We Stand, United We Fall.” We remember…let us remain United.

Praying for the Coast

This week has been a strange weather week, and now as I sit typing this I think about all those that may be affected by Hurricane Irene. The North Carolina coast has been affected by many storms, Irene being one of many. This area is one of the most beautiful in the country and this weekend a large storm is looming down upon it. Due to the sensitive nature of the Outer Banks I pray for anyone living on the coast. You are strong and you have support.

The Great Quake of 2011

Lattimore, NC–Just a couple of hours ago, the entire eastern seaboard went into a state of shock and panic. This due to an Earthquake. National monuments closed, buildings evacuated, and books and fine china flew from shelves.

The 5.9 magnitude shaker hit Virginia and traveled through the tiny hills and dales of Dixie all the way to New York, New York. In the tiny town of Lattimore, I felt a tremor and realized as I shook that it was a quake. Thanks to energy in the Earth’s crust I experienced my first detectable quake.

Casar

Heading to the north end of the county on Friday to take some landscape shots. Casar is a very small town but has some great hills, valleys, and distant mountains to capture. I’m looking forward to it and hope to get some great shots

God Bless,

E
